CLARK, Phyllis Jean (Baker) age 94, died peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018, in Richardson Texas, with family at her side.
Phyllis was born in Centerville, Ohio, in 1924. She was a proud descendent of the Aaron Nutt family, founders of Centerville, Ohio, and graduate of Centerville High School. Phyllis excelled academically and in music (piano, violin) and the arts. She studied design at Otterbein University in Ohio. Phyllis left Otterbein to work at a law firm. Soon after, she met future husband, John Clark, and focused on raising her family.
John was the love of her life. After John retired in 1983, he and Phyllis enjoyed more than 25 years of traveling and hiking throughout the United States, antiquing, and spending time with family. She and John were married for 58 years. Phyllis was preceded in death by John (June 28, 2011), parents Gladys (Nutt) and Roy Baker, and sister Bette (James) Grabill.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue and Judy, and son John; son-in law Mark Pyle; grandsons Steven and Chris Swensen; granddaughters Sara (Michael) Neal and Tracy (Brian) Ferguson; nieces Carole Sarkan, Nancy Brandt, and Linda Newport; and nephew James Grabill Jr.
Phyllis will be buried in Centerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation in Phyllis’s name to the Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer’s Association.
No funeral service or visitation is planned.
